ஒன்பது (Nine), 2018, is a performance and installation by Radha La Bia, the Diva from India, which weaves together 9 family recipes with 9 anecdotes. The number nine has great significance in Indian/Hindu cultures, and is often seen as auspicious. It is also used as a derogatory term to refer to someone who is effeminate, gay or trans within the diasporic Tamil communities.
Radha La Bia is a persona portrayed by artist Shaman Suku. Suku was born in 1987 in Singapore and arrived in Australia in 2009. He explores ideas of racial and cultural identity, gender roles, the home and the kitchen, food and storytelling.
