THE DEEP FAITH | LIVE PERFORMANCE

THE DEEP FAITH | LIVE PERFORMANCE

The Deep Faith will perform live in Cement Fondu with a combination of experimental sounds and performance.

The performance by collective Byron Spencer and Daniel Stricker accompanies their installation in our Project Space, you look me in the eyes (you make it all seem so easy). The artwork combines 3D prints, GAN imagery, video and music to create a zoetrope for the post-internet, blockchain era.

A zoetrope is an ancient form of animation, which creates the illusion of movement through rapidly spinning images. The DeepFaith utilise this obsolete technology to explore the convergence of digital and IRL realities and consider the human obsession with being seen and looking back.

The DeepFaith is a collaboration between Byron Spencer and Daniel Stricker and brings together the artists’ talents across music, creative direction and emerging technologies. Daniel Stricker creates Virtual Reality/XR/MR artworks and produces and performs music with Sebastien Tellier, Jamie xx, John Carroll Kirby and others. Byron Spencer is classically trained in music and theatre, which informs his experimental work across fashion photography, art, film and creative direction.

Due to the COVID-19 situation in NSW, we’ve capped capacity and an RSVP is mandatory to attend this exhibition launch. We will be checking vaccination certificates, and masks must be worn in the gallery. We recommend getting RAT tested before coming to lower the risk of this event, and to stay at home if you feel unwell.
