PROJECT SPACE CALL OUT 2024

Cement Fondu is proud to nurture artistic experimentation, risk-taking and innovation, and we invite you, our community, to play an active role.
We are delighted to invite you to submit EOIs to create and present new installations in our Project Space alongside three exhibitions in our 2024 program.
TThe Project Space is curated through a selection process that seeks propositions to complement Cement Fondu’s main exhibitions. We are looking for EOIs that respond imaginatively to the space through immersive, experimental, social or evolving installations. The opportunity is for artists at all stages of their careers who want to expand their practice while creating high-quality outcomes. A commission fee and production budget is provided.
Call out #1
16 March – 5 May 2024
Call out #1 invites proposals made from within a climate emergency and/or engage expanded painting as a form of social commentary.
This Project Space installation will be presented alongside an exhibition featuring Walmajarri artist John Prince Siddon, who has been impacted by severe floods in WA. Siddon’s psychedelic painting practice infuses a mix of materials and references, and offers humorous and incisive observations of Australian life.
Applications from First Nations artists and those based in remote or regional areas are strongly encouraged.
Call out #2
10 August – 29 September 2024
Call out #2 invites proposals that imagine alternative worlds that interrupt normative processes of identification.
This Project Space installation will be presented alongside an exhibition featuring Sin Wai Kin and Rainbow Chan whose performances and visual arts practices reimagine traditional notions of gender, sexuality and identity.
Applications from First Nations artists and those from the Asia-Pacific diaspora are strongly encouraged.

12 October – 8 December 2024
Call out #3 invites proposals that embrace invites proposals that embrace climate fictions and/or Indigenous futures.
This Project Space installation will be presented alongside our annual BETTER NATURE Art + Events program that explores different ecological ideas from a more-than-human perspective. In 2024, the BETTER NATURE exhibition will centre First Nations storytelling and imaginaries that envision life beyond climate catastrophe in a world of ecological extremes.
Applications from First Nations artists are strongly encouraged.
