Project Space Applications

Project Space Applications Project Space Applications

The Project Space is curated to complement Cement Fondu’s main exhibitions and focuses on live, experimental, social, immersive and evolving exhibitions. We encourage activations, such as workshops and performances. The space is for artists at all stages of their careers who want to expand their practice and explore new ways of working while creating high-quality outcomes and experiences.

At points throughout the year, we open the space up to applicants to respond to themed call-outs, hiring the space for a fee of $1100 (incl. GST.) Cement Fondu waives the Project Space hire fee for First Nations artists and collectives to encourage participation.

We are currently inviting unique ideas that complement two of our gallery exhibitions:

During our final exhibition of 2021 ‘Make Yourself at Home,’ a new solo exhibition by Re-Right Collective, Cement Fondu is inviting Project Space proposals for two exhibitions by First Nations artists or curators, with the gallery hire fee waived.

Guest Curated by Rebekah Raymond, ‘Make Yourself at Home,’ is the first major solo presentation for Re-Right Collective, a collaborative practice between artists Dennis Golding and Carmen Glynn-Braun. The exhibition contemplates notions of family, home, and domestic life through an Indigenous framework, exploring modes of reclamation, decolonisation and knowledge sharing through the objects and practices of everyday life.

We welcome Project Space proposals that reflect and expand on these themes.

The two exhibition slots available are:

1. 9 – 31 October 2021

2. 4 November – 5 December 2021

Applications are due:

25th July 2021

Studio A artist Annette Galstaun has a passion for angels, alters and putt putt golf.

Her world is populated by a network of angels who visit her as she drifts into sleep. Annette equally dreams of playing putt putt.

Using digital art, sculpture and two dimensional work Studio A promises an interactive exhibition that considers the connection between the metaphysical and material worlds.

Taking Annette Galstaun’s Angel paintings as its starting point, this exhibition will become an immersive and interactive mini golf course and performance site, leading visitors through a series of works, events, runways and performances which consider community, coming-together, individualism and sharing.
