Project Space Applications
The Project Space is curated to complement Cement Fondu’s main exhibitions and focuses on live, experimental, social, immersive and evolving exhibitions. We encourage activations, such as workshops and performances.
The space is for artists at all stages of their careers who want to expand their practice and explore new ways of working while creating high-quality outcomes and experiences.
We are currently inviting unique ideas that complement two of our gallery exhibitions:
During our final exhibition of 2021 ‘Make Yourself at Home,’ a new solo exhibition by Re-Right Collective, Cement Fondu is taking applications for two exhibitions by First Nations identifying artists or curators, with no gallery hire fee involved.
Guest Curated by Rebekah Raymond, ‘Make Yourself at Home,’ is the first major solo presentation for Re-Right Collective, a collaborative practice between artists Dennis Golding and Carmen Glynn-Braun. The exhibition contemplates notions of family, home, and domestic life through an Indigenous framework, exploring modes of reclamation, decolonisation and knowledge sharing through the objects and practices of everyday life.
We welcome Project Space proposals that reflect and expand on these themes.
The two exhibition slots available are:
- 9 – 31 October 2021
- 4 November – 5 December 2021
Applications are due:
18th July 2021
OPEN CALL #2
During our first exhibition of 2022 ‘Reverence & Irreverence,’ a new collaborative exhibition by Studio A artists Annette Galstaun, Meghan Pelham, Skye Saxon, Jaycee Kim and Thom, Cement Fondu is taking applications for two exhibitions in our project Space
Taking Annette Galstaun’s Angel paintings as its starting point, this exhibition will become an immersive and interactive mini golf course and performance site, leading visitors through a series of works, events, runways and performances which consider community, coming-together, individualism and sharing.
We welcome Project Space proposals that reflect on internal and external worlds, neurodivergence, community-building practices and beyond.
The two exhibition slots that we have available are
- 15 January – 6 February 2022
- 9 February – 6 March 2022
Applications are due:
8th August 2021
Hire Fee: $1100 incl GST
If you have an exciting idea that complements one of these two exhibitions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a 1-page proposal, including your overall concept, proposed realisation, tech requirements and ideas for activations. Please attach your bio, CV and a relevant selection of URLs or image files.
If you’d like assistance applying for any grants or additional funding for these projects, or would like to discuss a payment plan for the hire fee, don’t hesitate to reach out as well.
We look forward to hearing from you!
