Join Here is Your Horizon artist Niki Hastings McFall (NZ) for an afternoon of discussion and exploration, both of practice and of the local area. Beginning with an informal talk about her practice at UNSW Galleries, you are invited on a ‘lei-bombing’ walk to Cement Fondu for the launch of the exhibition.

Hastings McFall works with leis (celebratory wreaths of flowers) to create vibrant installations that investigate persisting Pacific stereotypes and emphasise current environmental issues including climate change and sustainability.

Niki Hastings McFall (NZ) is an artist and jeweller of Samoan and Pākehā descent. Since 1992, her work has been increasingly driven by research into her Pacific Island heritage. Hastings McFall has been described as one of the core artists bringing contemporary Pacific art to ‘national prominence and international acceptance’ by art historian Karen Stevenson.
