Flower arranging informs this new site-specific installation work by artist Leahlani Johnson. Through video work and in situ displays of flora, Johnson revisits the traditions of still life floral arrangements from a contemporary perspective. The fleeting life of flowers poignantly evokes the passing of time. This is both captured and denied in Johnson’s looped videos while the beauty of the living plants gradually fades as they die.

Johnson is a Sydney based artist and floral designer whose practice explores the paradoxical nature of time. Working across ceramics, painting, installation, floristry, performance and the moving image, Johnson’s work reveals qualities of stillness, temporality and flux.
