Lilium Burrow, 2019, Silk & Bed Sheets, digital print on polyester, 140 x 200cm
To coincide with Flat Earth Society, the Project Space presents Lilium Burrow, whose process-based practice applies contemporary, cyclical methods of construction and deconstruction to fabric and other materials. Silk and Bed Sheets is an exhibition of textiles and prints that investigate moments where the desire to hand-make contends with new technologies.
Through analogue and digital processes, Burrow deconstructs and transforms fabrics into a desktop friendly, A4 scale. Further manipulation highlights specific aspects of each fabric; texture, colour, sheen, softness, hardness or drape. As a final step, materials and files are sewn, digitally and physically, back to their original scale, producing deceptive and ambiguous works that blur the line between the original, the copy, the edited and unedited.
