The Refugee Art Project Fundraising Auction offers the chance to acquire important artworks while supporting a vital initiative. The auction will be hosted by artist Abdul Abdullah and will feature selected artworks by participants from the Refugee Art Project, alongside some of Sydney’s leading artists.

The Refugee Art Project is a non-profit, community art organisation which has facilitated art workshops for asylum seekers and refugees in the Villawood detention centre and those living in the Western Sydney community since late 2010.

The featured artworks present a raw, sometimes hopeful and often challenging insight into participants’ experiences and the continuing psychological impact.

The Refugee Art Project shares these artworks with the public through exhibitions and zines with the aim of educating the broader Australian community and challenging misconceptions that surround the refugee issue.
