Studio A artist Katrina Brennan has collaborated with artist Paula Do Prado to create a series of ten woven and coiled necklaces, each braided with yarn chains, various embellishments, and a Studio A tag on the inside.
Each necklace is one-of-a-kind.
Studio A artist Katrina Brennan’s works are sumptuous and electric. Reminiscent of the great Op Art painter Bridget Riley, her geometries swirl, pulse and vibrate with life force. Colours pop and shapes agitate, as if competing for space on the page. Katrina Brennan works across painting, drawing and textiles and her process is simultaneously intuitive and precise.
Paula do Prado is a visual artist living and working on Gadigal land. She was born on Charrúa land (Montevideo), Uruguay migrating to Australia in 1986 with her parents at the age of 7. Through her practice she seeks to connect with her ancestral heritage and explore the intersections between her diverse lineages including Bantu (West, Central and South African), Iberian (Spanish and Portuguese) and Indigenous South American heritage. do Prado utilises cloth, paper, crochet, coiling and beading to process and transform intergenerational experiences. Her alignment with her black heritage is intentional.
