For SPRING 1883 – Sydney’s alternative contemporary art fair in the luxury hotel setting of The Establishment – Cement Fondu are teaming up with innovative digital platform Daata Editions to present newly commissioned video works and site-specific installation by Western Sydney-based artist Heath Franco. Franco’s new video works will be available to purchase at Spring 1883 through the daata-editions.com platform and will remain available online. An early-career artist, Franco has received notable acclaim for his interdisciplinary practice, participating in prestigious exhibitions, including DarkMOFO; MONA FOMA; The National 2017; and Primavera, Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia.

Exploring themes of privilege and luxury, the Cement Fondu X Daata Editions hotel room will also feature a curated selection of artworks by esteemed, international artists drawn from the Daata Editions platform. Sound and video works by Georgie Roxby Smith (AU), Rachel Maclean (UK), Takeshi Murata (US), Chloe Wise (US) and Larry Achiampong (UK) will playfully assimilate with the hotel room, inviting visitors to encounter artworks in unexpected places.

Also distinguishing the Cement Fondu X Daata Editions presentation will be two live activations by Sydney-based interdisciplinary artist JD Reforma, who will enact the performance of luxury during the VIP Preview and on Saturday 14 September 3pm as a free public event.

All of the artworks on display will be available to buy on the spot as certified digital downloads via daata-editions.com. In addition, rare limited-editions of Heath Franco’s HOME TOWN TWO (2016) video performance, his digital art prints and HEATH FRANCO X THREADGATE tote bags will also be available to purchase.

Since their launch exhibition in March 2018, Cement Fondu has been partnering with Daata Editions to bring some of the most exciting names in global contemporary art to Sydney audiences. A native digital platform, Daata Editions commissions video, sound, poetry and online artworks from artists around the world and makes art collecting affordable and accessible. Daata Editions artworks are highly regarded, and feature in the Hammer Museum Contemporary Collection (USA), the Julia Stoschek Collection (Germany), KIASMA (Finland) and the Zabludowicz Collection (UK).
