SWEATSHOP WOMEN | LIVE READINGS

SWEATSHOP WOMEN | LIVE READINGS

To celebrate the Art Month Sydney Paddington Precinct Night on the 27th of March, we invite you to join us in the gallery from 5 – 6pm for a series of readings by members of Sweatshop Women.

Sweatshop Western Sydney Literacy Movement β€˜is devoted to empowering culturally and linguistically diverse communities through reading, writing and critical thinking.’ Facilitated by Sweatshop General Manager Winnie Dunn, we will host readings by Gayatri Nair, Aseel Harb, Sydney Allen and Abeny Mayol. Held in the context of our current exhibition Textbook for Desire, which proposes desire as a life-structuring way of knowing and sharing knowledge, these readings will give a platform to Sweatshop to share their knowledge, perspectives and writing with audiences.

Preceding this event, artist Naomi Segal will lead a zine-making workshop from 3-5pm, RSVP here. Following the event, enjoy a music performance lecture by New Age Noise from 6pm – 7pm.

These events are all free, and all are welcome.
