Drawing inspiration from Heath Franco’s ‘carpet man’ character, who repeats the phrase “I’m not doing anything anything”, this workshop explores disguise as a method of protection from both internal and external worlds. Participants are invited to use costume and camouflage to explore ideas of surveillance, paranoia, obsession and confusion. This workshop will culminate in a participatory and performative merging with Franco’s multi-media environments.
In Disguise is facilitated by Samantha Relihan, an arts educator who has worked at institutions including The Queensland Art Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney. Samantha currently works in Public Programs and Education at Hazelhurst Arts Centre and runs workshops for diverse audiences across Sydney.
