WORKSHOP | Stencils and spirits with Maddison Gibbs

WORKSHOP | Stencils and spirits with Maddison Gibbs

Join Barkindji artist Maddison Gibbs to create your own spirit responding to her work in NURA. Using stencils and spray paint Maddison will guide you to create a spirit through deeply listening to Country and the plants, animals, weather and sounds within it. Hear about Maddison’s sculptural process of creating the large spirits seen in NURA and learn how to use stencils to paint.

Maddison Gibbs is a proud Gunu Baakandji woman who grew up in Dubbo, NSW. Both artist and activist, Maddison Gibbs’ practice examines dual histories – focusing on stories of past and present Aboriginal societies and spirit.
